★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was one of the most happiest and the biggest moment of my life, the day i booked my tour for Kashmir under Smiles Holidays. I was eagerly waiting for the day , when the tour shall commence.
The moment the plane descended, watching the snow clad mountains all aligned in a row, truly mesmerized my eyes. We had Shweta Undre as our tour manager along with us.
Once we walked out of the airport, we waited nearly for half an hour for our pick up as no vehicle was at sight. We then were alloted two seven -seater vehicle for our lunch and following journey was done in a badly shaped bus to our hotel in Srinagar.
Where ever we went for our outings, our tour leader was busy bargaining the rates with the vehicle guys and we knew that the vehicles were not booked on prior booking basis.
There was hardly any variety of food served.
In Pahalgam, we were checked in Mantoo Cottages, which had rooms that were not clean and not to mention of the poor condition of the bathrooms.
As we were near concluding our tour, we were placed in houseboat rooms on triple and quad sharing basis as the other rooms booked were not upto that standard (filthy and old).
On our final day, me along with my sister in law aged 50 had to stay back due to flight cancellations and we were the only two remaining while all the rest of the tour members left for morning flight.
We were left alone to fend for ourselves as there was no Smiles tour leader with us.
We had to make arrangements for our meals which were not part of the tour, but our luggage and we were rowed in shikara not meant for people to transfer but for garbage disposal.
Meanwhile, my sister in law started to feel unwell when we reached the airport at noon, suddenly her blood pressure shot up and had to be called for medical help. The staff of Kashmir airport security rushed to our help and admitted her to a civil hospital in an ambulance for her treatment. We managed to clear all medical formalities and got through our flight just in time, or else we would have missed our flight that day.
In a totally unknown place and situation I was left to fetch for myself alone without any help from anyone known. Had it been our tour leader with us, our worry would have been lessened but that wasn't the case.
My experience with Smiles Holidays was surely not a happy one and I think no one should ever go on a trip with them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was the first time for me to go on a solo trip and as suggested I thought I was in responsible hands when I contacted Smiles holidays for their women's tour to Kashmir.
But that wasn't the case, the tour started with lot of changes just before we could embark, mentioning of only veg meals for lunch although it was told earlier that meals will be given according to our preference.
Secondly there was no heating facilities in a hotel in Pahalgam, where the temperature drops to almost freezing point. If only the organiser would have thought of these things before booking such a mediocre hotel.
Also, the houseboat rooms provided to us was mediocre and when confronted as to why we were given the other houseboat, the tour organiser Shweta was very rude and told us if we don't want to stay here, then the whole group will be accomodated in four rooms, which eventually happened and we had to quad share the room.
Although I had lovely company of my friends and Kashmir is a very nice place, the mismanagement of the tour organisers ruined the whole experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When I planned to go for my first ever women's only trip, I decided to find the best tour agency, with at least 4-5 star rating. I came across Smiles Holidays on Facebook and was impressed with the videos they posted. I decided to give them a try and dropped a message. I was contacted by Shweta Undre, our tour organizer, a promising young lady with lots of promises.
I decided to go, along with my 3 other friends, on the Women's only Kashmir Tour in April 2022, organized by Smiles Holidays.
The itinerary which was initially given to us, was later changed, mostly after the complete payment was done. The hotels and houseboats which were initially mentioned in the itinerary, were later downgraded to cheaper ones. One of the coldest places we stayed was a hotel with no heating system. This was the most careless thing to do, considering there were kids in our group. Right from the time we were picked up from the airport, there were constant bus breakdowns and other delays. We never got to taste authentic Kashmiri food, as the meals were arranged according to the organizer's convenience. The number of rooms in the house boat were miscalculated and some of us were asked to stay in badly maintained rooms, as everyone could not be accommodated.
The only positive side to this trip, were the fantastic co-travelers in the group, enthusiastic ladies who know how to have fun. We have some wonderful memories and are still in touch. But the organizers always failed us with their mismanagement and ignorance, and although they had many opportunities to save the day, they decided otherwise.
Kashmir is beautiful, with lots of places to see, good food and hospitable people. To see Kashmir you need to plan your itinerary well, with a good tour organizer.
Very few get the merit of a 5 star rating on social media, but only the competent can keep up to it. Smiles Holidays must have organized the best tours in the past, but our experience with them was terrible to say the least. You will find different types of tour organizers out there. Some work for the good reviews and will give you the best while charging you accordingly. Some work to maximize their profits by compromising on food and hotels and take you to Tourist traps.
Don't fall for this trap !
