【Snan Bedi / The Bathing Pavilion】 On the full moon day of Jyestha, the Chaturdhamurty are placed on the bathing mandapa and bathes in 108 pot water. The holy water is brought from the Suna Kua(Well) and the Chaturdhyamurty is anointed in the Vedic manner. This day is also known as Sridharubrahma's birth ceremony. ज्येष्ठ मासि सिते पक्षे पौर्ण्णमाअ जगद्दीश्वरम् स्नापये तीर्थ तौयेन सर्बमङ्गल सिद्धये ।। (ब्रह्मपुराण) Presumably, The Snan Mandap/ Bathinh Pavilion of Chaturdhamurthy was situated inside the kurma bedha/ Inner wall of temple. During 14th century, Gajapati Kapilendradeva built the outer wall of the Shri Jagannatha Temple, called Meghanada Prachir and a new bathing pavilion was built on the northeast side of that Meghnad wall. For the first 200 years, the bathing ritual was practiced in a temporary wooden mandapa. Later,Gajapati Birakishore Dev (1737-1780) built a permanent pavilion for Snan Jatra. This square pavilion is 55 feet long and wide. The height of the left side is 6 feet 6 inches and the height of the right side is 6 feet 3 inches. At the top of the pavilion are three round stones on which chaturdhamurty sit on. There are four steps to getting to it. There is a difference in the height of these steps. The back wall of the sitting place of Chaturdhamurty is 6 feet high and 2 feet wide. The entire mandapa is 25 feet high. It is said that the height of this mandapa is equal to the height of the Ratnasinghasan.
