★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sringeri (IAST: Śṛngēri) also called Sri Kshetra Shringeri is a hill town and Taluk headquarters located in Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the site of the first maṭha (Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham) established by Adi Shankara, Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, in the 8th century CE. Located on the banks of the river Tungā, the town draws a large number of pilgrims to its temples of Sri Sharadamba, Sri Vidyashankara, Sri Malahanikareshvara and other deities.
The name Sringeri is derived from Rishyashringa-giri, a nearby hill that is believed to have contained the hermitage of Rishi Vibhandaka and his son Rishyashringa. In an episode in the Bala-Kanda of the Ramayana, Vasishtha narrates how Rishyashringa brought rains to the drought-stricken kingdom of Romapada.[1]
According to legend, Sri Adi Shankara is said to have selected the site as the place to stay and teach his disciples, because when he was walking by the Tunga river, he saw a cobra with a raised hood, providing shelter from the hot sun, to a frog undergoing labour. Impressed with the place where natural enemies had gone beyond their instincts, he stayed here for twelve years. Sri Adi Shankaracharya also established mathas in the northern (at Jyotirmath, near Badrinath), eastern (at Puri) and western (at Dwaraka) quarters of India.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This famous hindu temple is dedicated to goddess Sharadambika who is considered to be incarnation of goddess Saraswathi. This temple was built in eighth century by Shri Di Shankaracharya. This is a beautiful historical temple on the banks of river Tunga.
The ritual of aksharabhyasa or beginning to write is conducted here for kids of 2-5 years age, considered to be very sacred.
The temple complex also houses a books and souvenir shop.
Free food is served for all by the temple.
Temple is in Sringeri town in Chikmagalur which is known for its beautiful nature and greenery.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Temple was founded by Shri Shankaracharya. It's very huge temple complex. It has several temples inside the complex and mutt also situated there. The godess Shardamba is nothing but Godess Saraswati before it was a wooden sculpture later they made it as golden one. Amazing place to see. They will perform aksharabhyasa to children and there is Veda pathashala also in the temple for children to learn Vedas.
