★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The FOUNDER of this institute, Prof. (Dr.) K. K. Maltiar, Professor (Rtd.), Former Principal, B.N. College, Ex-Head of the Department of Geography & Ex-Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Patna University has a distinctive as well as illustrious academic and teaching career spanning 41 years of teaching experience. A ‘Gold Medalist’ of the 1974 batch of Patna University, as a distinction of having secured first position in first class at M.A. (Geography), he has devoted his entire life to academics, authored books and supervised many research scholars in their researches. In September 2017, he was awarded the ‘Certificate of Excellence’ by Patna University for his outstanding contribution in the field of Geography. Prof. K.K. Maltiar is brilliant teacher of cartography.
Prof. K.K. Maltiar is also credited with starting teaching of Geography in B.N. College, Patna University in April 1980 when he was appointed as a lecturer in Geography in B. N. College under Patna University service. Thus he is the ‘Founder Teacher’ of the Department of Geography B.N. College, Patna University.
The SRM Institute has been established in the memory of Prof. (Dr.) Mrs. Shanta Rani Maltiar (SRM), the late wife of Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Maltiar. It is running under Shanta Rani Maltiar Educational and Social Welfare Trust. At present this institute has two units – SRM Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS and SRM Classes. The first unit that is SRM Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS is devoted mainly to the study of Remote Sensing including Digital Cartography and Geographic Information System (GIS). The second unit i.e. SRM Classes is preparing students for Civil Services (UPSC and BPSC) and NET/JRF competitions.
