An expert committee to plan and develop a centre of excellence for cancer treatment at Jaipur was constituted in Apr 2014 consisting of Dr. Rajababu Panwar, Dr. Raj Govind Sharma, Dr. Hemant Malhotra, , Dr. Sandeep Jain & others. This project namely State Cancer Institute of SMS Medical College Jaipur was approved on January 16, 2017. Foundation stone was laid by the then chief minister Vasundhara Raje on 28th October 2017 at Pratap Nagar. Total cost aprox Rs 120 crore for which 60% share from Centre, and rest by the state government. The State Cancer Institute which is an extension of SMS Medical College Jaipur has over 35,000 sq metre area available. In the first phase plan there are 60 beds, three Modular and one Non Modular Operation Theatres along with advanced Radiotherapy, Medical & Surgical Oncology facilities with Pathology, Biochemistry, Radiodiagnosis & other Depts. OPD was started on World Cancer Day 4th Feb 2020.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It will be one of best institute of India (centre of excellence) will provide complete cancer Care under one Roof to needy and poor people with state of art facilities at minimum cost. This institute is a very beautiful gift to public of Rajasthan and I am proud to say that now we have intially statered indoor and outdoor medical oncology pateints facilities . I am really thankful to our Govt for giving me responsibility as first nodal officer and subsequently Dr Rohitash Dana sir ( professor and former head department of radiation Oncology ) to build it as state of art institute and now Given me responsibility as Medical Supritendent along with fully competent team and others to run and make it fully functional.
