About Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya
Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya was established in 1924 as a Primary School from Class I to V to provide education to Girls Child. Prior to that Primary Classes were being held at Indraprastha Senior Secondary School opposite Jama Masjid. Lala Jagan Nath ji proprietor of Messrs. Suraj Bhan Prem Raj came forward and gifted the “ Patni Mal Ki Haweli” the present premises, for running the primary school. Thus born the Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya , a primary school on 13th July 1924. It was granted recognition by the Municipal Authorities.
Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya is dedicated to serve Girl Child of middle and low income citizens of old Delhi. All girl students are given all round exposure in academics , computer education and cultural activities. Students regularly win Scholarship in competitions organized at zonal and state level of Municipal Corporation Of Delhi.
Late Sh. Ram Gopal Gupta Chairman and Trustee of GMGR CHARITABLE TRUST took over the management of the school from 1987 and is presently looked after by Chairman Sh. Chandra Shekhar Gupta. Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya is always achieving new heights and it is one of the most popular and sought after school for Girl child education in the ` Walled city of Delhi `.
