On the way towards Bolpur from Kolkata after crossing the river Ajay bridge. Shivratri and in Bengali month Shraban the place remain crowded and festival takes place. The name of Bolpur derived from here as human sacrifice (Boli) takes place here during the reign of Raja Surath.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surotheswar is a Shib Temple, known as an old one constructed by Raja Suratha. May have a connection with Boli Raja. This temple situated outskirts of Bolpur and adjacent to Biswa Bangla Biswa Bidyalaya, at junction of Bolpur-Illambazar road and Suri-Kolkata road (NH2B). A calm and cool place to visit. On Siba-ratri and last Monday of Sravan this place become heavily crowded, with many cultural functions. A Holy Padma pukur is also there. Yet scarcity of basic facilities for pilgrimage causes problem. Recently state government taken some projects to improve facilities for religious tourism.
