The first contemporary public sculpture park in India and also one of the first examples of public and private partnership in the arts, The Sculpture Park at Madhavendra Palace in Nahargarh fort has turned an 18th-Century fortress into a Sculpture Gallery with works displayed throughout the meandering rooms and grand courtyards. Traditional Indian architecture creates a dramatic backdrop for the monumental works occupying central positions and more intimate works featured throughout the many rooms, awaiting discovery. Visitors are invited to meander through the palace, to encounter and experience each work in a range of settings and display. The Sculpture Park’s second edition opened December 9, 2018 and will run through July 1, 2020.

India's first Sculpture Park was launched at the historic Madhavendra Palace of Nahargarh fort in 2017. It aims to promote tourism & contemporary art. Sat Saath Arts collaborated with the Rajasthan Govt to create this spectacular park of contemporary artworks. Year long exhibition includes artwork by Indian & International artists that are displayed both indoors & outdoors. Sculpture Park’s inaugural edition ended in Oct 2018, second edition in Dec 2019 & the third edition is open with a new set of artworks. Over 60 sculptures by 25 artists are displayed at the 20000sq ft courtyards. Some of the art presentations are River of Stones by Sir Richard Long using red stand-stones of the Aravalli Mountains, Prashant Pandey’sΒ beautiful Kama work made out of marble chips, Municiple Demolition. Madhavendra Palace was built during the reign of Sawai Ram Singh II(1835-80) & Sawai Madho Singh II(1862-1922) The 9 apartments of the royal Zenana were built around a rectangular courtyard. These grand courtyard rooms were intricately painted with decorative murals. It was used as a seasonal retreat by Madho Singh & his wives.

The Madhavendra Bhawan, built by Sawai Madho Singh had suites for the queens of Jaipur and at the head was a suite for the king himself. The rooms are linked by corridors and still have some delicate frescoes. Built mainly in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the king of Jaipur, the fort was constructed as a place of retreat on the summit of the ridge above the city. Walls extended over the surrounding hills, forming fortifications that connected this fort to Jaigarh, the fort above the old capital of Amber. Though the fort never came under attack during the course of its history, it did see some historical events, notably, the treaties with the Maratha forces who warred with Jaipur in the 18th century. During the Indian Mutiny of 1857, the Europeans of the region, including the British Resident's wife, were moved to Nahargarh fort by the king of Jaipur, Sawai Ram Singh, for their protection. Nahargarh was also a hunting residence of the Maharajas.
