Traditionally, customer needs have been dictated by marketing and sales push, but we find that this approach is not in sync with today’s well-connected and well-informed customers. In our design process, we start with the consumer. We try to understand our current and future customers; their product needs and pain points. For this, we actively initiate research projects with our network of local partners in India and other countries. These partners are consumer facing and play a pivotal role in understanding customers.

At this stage we deploy a qualitative and quantitative research to categorise customer wants and expectations. We use tools such as focus groups, questionnaires, and interviews to understand key customer pain points and needs while trying to accomplish a certain task. The most crucial needs are then prioritised and moved to the solution stage.

As the design-led solutions are developed, solution prototypes are tested with focus groups. First impressions and task-based testing results are quantified to understand each prototype experience. The learnings from these findings are fed back to identify constraints and the prototypes are reiterated and tested. The optimal solution is then developed for the larger market.
