Very nice place to be in lap of nature. Relaxing atmosphere but little disappointed about presence of some anti social elements . People also use this place for alcohol and drugs, which I feel not suitable if you are with family. Palghar police should put serious attention into it...!!!

Its has historic shiva temple on its top and best part is while tracking towards the temple one has to cross 3 water streams. Don't worry the water is not much deep its only knee length deep. And you can experience many small water falls and greenery. No vehicle is allowed in rainy season. Only forest department vehicals are allowed and it charges 50rs per person for one way trip.

One the most beautiful places you can be around Mumbai. Quite, peacefully and blissful , there can be many more adjectives I can use. But you have to experience it yourself to understand.

Very calm and nice place. If you like natural beauty you should visit here. You can drive bike upto the ashram which is very near to the top of hill. Road is very rough in monsoon it can't be used. Beware of snakes and monkeys. The view from top is amazing. During monsoon there are lots of streams of water and place becomes lively. There is a very old temple. Many devotees visit there. Near the temple you can get food and water. On the top you will not get anything so remember to take those things before you go to top.

Tungareshwar wildlife sanctuary also known as Tungareshwar National Park is located on a plateau east of Vasai and Virar in Palghar district, north of Mumbai in the Indian state Maharashtra. The sanctuary is over 85 km2 and forms a corridor between Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary. It has an altitude of about 2177 feet from the base. Tungareshwar was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 2003. It rises to about 665 meters above sea level, making it a very popular destination for trekkers. In 2003 it was brought under the administrative control of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park Division, Borivali, Mumbai. Many bird walks, nature trails by wildlife professionals from around Mumbai and Vasai Taluka are conducted here. Biodiversity is rich here, about 600 species of plants, over 250 species of birds, 150 species of butterflies and 36 species of herpetofauna have been recorded. There is a temple at about 3 kms from the Tungareshwar WLS base, due to which many devotees travel uphill to the temple by auto rickshaw or by foot. This pilgrimage site within the wildlife sanctuary has brought unrest amongst the wildlife, due to increased footfall of devotees. After this trail point, a huge entrance sign board can be viewed for The Balyogi Shri Sadanand Maharaj Ashram; which is misleading and ideally should be taken down, since the illegal structure of the ashram had been demolished in 2019 after orders from the Supreme Court. There are currently no signages indicating the distance to the top of the WLS. While the ashram structure is in ruins, there is still yet another functional temple in there approximately 11 kilometres from the base entry. This trail further pretty much has no human sighting, yet can be considered safe during the day time, although you would hear the loud screeches of the gray langurs who would also be astonished to see human presence once in a while. The terrain is a mix of rocky surface and flatland intermittently. Trekkers must make sure you carry along medical kit, and really good amount of water with you. Highly recommended to wear full sleeves clothes to avoid any bites, wounds, tans. Carrying a cap and sunglasses is a must to protect you from the harsh heat, as this route has less shade. There are two ways you can reach the summit of the Tungareshwar WLS, one being from Vasai Road West which starts from the main gate itself, the other one can be trekked from the region of Parol / Vajreshwari. The distance from the base of the plateau to the top is approximately 11 kms., while that from Parol is said to be 8 kms. From Mumbai, Tungareshwar WLS can be reached by road or railways. It is en route the NH 48 towards Gujarat. Via train, one can board the WWestern line (Mumbai Suburban Railway)  and alight at Vasai Road Railway Station which is towards the North of Mumbai suburbs. From Vasai Road railway station (east) exit, sharing/private autos are available till the Tungareshwar WLS base main gate. Auto rides are also available to and fro the temple.

This an amazing attraction of tranquility is located in Vasai, Maharashtra. Sanctuary is about 60 km away from the most populated city of India, Mumbai. This is the ultimate peaceful destination for Mumbai residents. You can spot a wide array of wildlife animals including snakes, leopards and some rare species of birds

Good place to get in a trek and get in a workout while taking in an exquisite view. The view is better during the monsoons but this trek should only be done if you are in an adventurous spirit as it's more on the danger side.

Tucked away in the hustle of the metropolitan city of Thane lies a forest abode for all the things nature, called the Tungareshwar National Park. It is approximately 34 kms away from Thane city. Tungareshwar National Park is also known as the Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary. This is one of Maharashtra's sublime birding areas. It is also a great place to watch wild animals like the leopard, boars, crabs etc. in their natural habitat. Tungareshwar is a great hiking destination for all the adventure lovers. It is also a place where one can find much needed solace. There are many little rivulets flowing during the monsoons which add to the beauty of the place. There is a beautiful Shiva Temple located in the park premises which is surrounded by lush green trees and mini waterfalls during the monsoons, providing the observers with an aesthetic view. Best time to visit Tungareshwar will be during the monsoon months of June to September, when there is greenery everywhere you look and enchanting waterfalls befall your way. Visitors can visit this place on all weekdays during timings 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. It will take approximately 3-4 hours to explore all the attractions of this sanctuary. There is no entry fee for Tungareshwar Sanctuary, so visitors need not pay any amount for visiting.
