★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very very very poor service .... staffs behave as if they own the hills ... had very bad experience in kedarnath .. these people will make u wait for hours and can stop the service at any moment and also will resume the service only if there is a pick up if not you will end up waiting for hours

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very unorganised service. No info about steps & procedures are given.They just take your money and make you wait ! No respect for old people going pilgrimage. Many occasions they leave people in cold kedarnath wether uninformed. Many old people & kids were troubled badly because of their service. You will loose interest in visiting temple because of the problems they create. KINDLY AVOID their service.

We had a very bad experience today at Phata for Kedarnath yatra. We were a group of 10 people and made it a point to report to them the previous day and were asked to report at 8.30. When we came we saw that it was loosely based on first come first served. Our group was split with first 4 attached to two others who came after us. While coming back we were again split and this time it was 4-5-1. Right after 9 people they took a 1 hour break and the last person was made to wait for more than 1 hour. Even after repeatedly telling them that we were part of a group and had to travel far after our return they were absolutely unconcerned. One guy even retorted upon complaining that they are not bothered about anything except taking people. I would ask you to avoid this operator if possible or be ready to haggle with them beyond your patience.

Booking:
Online booking isnt available on website. However booking can be made by contacting the office and making online payment in advance. Tickets till Mid-June are sold out on the opening date itself, so better get in touch early by March/April. One may have an outward chance for current booking if they report at 7am and can risk to wait till 2pm. Historically, they ask walk-ins to come at 2pm but have never given a flight to such walk-in cases. Pulling some strings with the operations team or levaraging the positions of government officials/ MP/ MLA may get you preferencial flights.
Prices:
Approved prices for 2018 were 6700/- They compulsarily sell prasad tickets worth 400/- in addition.
Boarding:
The Helipad is in Phata near Rampur/ 5kms before Kedarnath foothills. Current booking isn't accepted/ entertained either at the UTAir helipad office in phata or at Kedarnath helipad counter. You need to submit Name, Aadhar number, age and weight in a piece of paper to the counter. Weighing is done at the counter on-spot and is generally not charged till 85kgs. They generate ticket and manifest with the flight number for the day. There are 3 tearable parts to the boarding ticket, 1 is taken @ on-boarding, 1 @ off-boarding and 1 @return. First flight is after break of the dawn about 0600hours. 1 sortie carries 6 passengers with alloable weight of 80kgs and extra charge per Kg thereafter, maximum 3kg baggage permissible. 2 passengers sit to left of the pilot and 4 on the rear seats, luggage goes inside the trunk/ storage. There are about 5 ground staff who see through that the helicopter has a hot-landing with touchdown not more than 55 seconds, which includes off-boarding 6 passengers, on-boarding 6 passengers along with all luggage and clearance after doors shut.
Flight:
The sortie from Phata to Kedarnath is roughly 7min incl on & off boarding. The climate change is sudden as there is no time for acclimatization, wear warm clothes and caps as it could be painfully cold up. Enjoy the aerial view of the majestic mountains and the trek route.
