Vidyasagar Shishu Niketan High School - Midnapore

I had been a student of this school for 14 years till 2015. The school is pretty good and probably one of the finest schools within the premises of the district. Students are supposed to abide by rules and disciplines, which are indeed lenient. Most teachers, leaving a few, are approachable ("were" in my case) and very friendly, including our principal. The above mentioned few, do not possess the correct attitude and demeanor a teacher should have towards the students and in the past there had been few cases of discrimination based on gender. Few teachers had evidently shown partial behavior towards students who used to take private tuitions from them, while students, although with nice grip on the corresponding subjects, were graded low. The facilities provided within the school are pretty decent. The library, undeniably, has a huge pool of books, encompassing various fields and can prove to be worthy to students who seek for knowledge. Cameras and speakers have been installed in almost every room and the principal keeps an eye on each and every corner of the school (except the washrooms :P). Even the entrance of the school remains under CCTV surveillance. School life of a VSNian would surely be pretty decent and enjoyable, if one keeps in mind the consequences of the deeds she/he performs. However, there are some non-teaching staffs who tend to exercise and impose exaggerated control over students, which, to the students, seem completely unnecessary. And, getting caught (by any teacher) speaking in any vernacular language other than English could actually land one into trouble. Sports' equipments that are generally available are - footballs, cricket bats, wickets, rubber balls, badminton rackets, shuttlecocks, volley balls,etc. There are exclusive games periods, once or twice in a week. Sports' equipments aren't provided in the tiffin breaks.

This is an English Medium school with highly educated teachers as well as extraordinary students. It provides a facility of smart and digital classrooms, laboratories, playground and infrastructural buildings.

An awesome school indeed. More than awesomeness, it's got discipline, well trained faculty, the best labs of Midnapore and probably some of the finest students in the nation. Astounding institution with extremely learned faculty. Teachers are very warm, generous and gregarious . They teach with great care. Frequent tests are conducted in order to boost up the students' progress in several subjects as a result of which the school has been creating academic records over the years. Supervision of the Principal, on a regular basis, is what makes the school so special, so wonderful!!

Best English medium school in the city. Vidyasagar Shishu Niketan is run by the Society for the Betterment of Education which was formed by a group of educationists and administrators on 4 September 1974 with the active help and encouragement from Sri Dipak Ghosh I.A.S, the then District Magistrate of Midnapore to impart better education to the school going children of Midnapore Town and to establish institutions for this purpose. This group felt that our children should be able to feel at home anywhere in India during their student life and also later in their working life. For this reason, they decided to set up a school where education would be imparted through the medium of English. Vidyasagar Shishu Niketan was established in January 1975 with preparatory and kindergarden classes only, under the able guidance of Miss S. Mukherjee, Honorary Secretary and Principal, herself a teacher of great distinction. The School is now run in 4 sections (1) Pre-school section (Lower & Upper prep. & K.G. Classes), (2) Primary school section (classes I to IV), (3) High school section (Classes V to X), (4) Higher Secondary (XI & XII). Since 1975, the school grew up by one class each year until 1983 and is managed by a Governing Body, appointed by the Society for the Betterment of Education, Midnapore. The School from its very inception depended solely on the tuition and other fees collected from its students. The Society for the Betterment of Education and its members take interest in the business of the school without any remuneration whatsoever. The Society is under the direct supervision of the District Magistrate and the School Governing Body is constituted by the Society. We are permanently affiliated to the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations. Thirteen batches of our students have already taken the final ICSE examination quite successfully. Three batches of ISC have appeared quite successfully. Given all the requisite facilities of teaching, Lab work and Library use, we are confident of providing sound higher secondary education. Hopefully, the right thinking guardians will opt for Vidyasagar Shishu Niketan, when it comes to giving them this level of instruction. Thanks to the sustained patronage and support of the enlightened people of Midnapore, the school has, over the years, grown into a prominent centre of educational excellence.
