Vidyasagar university is also a big university like other big universities in West Bengal.all general degree colleges in west and east medinipur are under this university. It has a big premises and also covered by green deep forest with many kaju trees. Its environment is really studiable have also facilities bank, canteen, post office, library and big buildings. The location of it is one side of reknowned medinipur town and west side of midnapore railway station.I did my msc degree from this university. I really feel proud to be a student of this university.

Vidyasagar University was established by an Act of the West Bengal legislature which was notified in the Calcutta Gazette on 24 June 1981.[4] It is an affiliating university in Paschim Medinipur district of southern West Bengal, India.[5] It offers courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.The university was established on 29 September 1981 by the Vidyasagar University Act 1981 (West Bengal Act XVIII of 1981) of the state of West Bengal to commemorate Pandit Iswar Chandra Bandyopadhyay, also known as Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, an educationist and social worker of 19th century Bengal. The University Grants Commission accorded recognition to the university under Section 12 B on 1 March 1990.[6] A short history of Vidyasagar University is written by a faculty of the Anthropology Department in Bengali which was published in January 2001 from Kolkata. In this book the author being one of the founder teachers of the university narrated the missions of the institution as well as the deviations and the future possibilities in the context of globalization.[7]The total area of university campuses in the semi-rural areas is 182.75 acres (0.7396 km2). It may be distributed as: Main Campus: 103.79 acres (0.4200 km2) Residential Campus: 35.00 acres (141,600 m2) Third plot: 43.97 acres (177,900 m2)[14] The third plotwhich was given by the district administration was taken back since the university could not use it for its purpose.[15] Admission in undergraduate and postgraduate course is mainly based on the result of higher secondary (10+2) and graduation (10+2+3) level results, respectively. Each college sets up their own criteria for admission in undergraduate course, but all are mainly based on higher secondary results.[19][20] For research level programs, the aspirants have to sit for a qualifying test (RET) followed by an interview. It is mandatory that they secure at least 55% marks in their post graduate level examination. If the aspirants qualify the all India examination like NET, GATE, SET then their admission in Ph.D is only based on interview

A very good place for studying. The university looks brand new and cool. The authority maintained the campus so beautifully. You can feel like you're in the lap of mother nature when roam about at the campus. It is covered with green everywhere with beautiful gardens and so many beautiful flowers of different kind in it. I don't know about the teachers and the teachings as I'm studying through distance education and just attend one class only. The office staffs of the department are also warm in behavior.

Vidyasagar University one of the best university in West Bengal. It's NACC grade B++ . Campus is very beautiful and the over all university system is very beautiful. Vidyasagar University provide many subjects. And this university's all faculty is very good . This university situated in West Medinipur district, five minutes in auto from the medinipur station. The overall university is very good.
