★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited (WBTDCL) was incorporated on 29th April, 1974 under the Companies Act, 1956. The Corporation is owned by Government of West Bengal under the administrative control of Tourism Department and the entire share capital of the Company is contributed by the State Government.
WBTDCL is a nodal agency of Tourism Department which was incorporated with the objectives to develop and promote tourism in the state of West Bengal and for this purpose to take over, run and manage hotels, lodges, guest houses, motels, restaurants etc as well as to popularize tourist destinations in the state and conduct tour packages to those places.
WBTDCL is committed to provide its resources and expertise for both domestic and international tourists visiting West Bengal and to rise to their expectation in experiencing the art, culture, heritage and nature of the state.

But you can book only online
Which closes a day ahead.
Even if the seats are vacant you cannot.
I wonder this is the reason why state tourism departments runs at losses.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ WBTDC has established lodges in good locations but they have not given attention to satisfy tourists ! Hospitality is very very poor. Staffs are cooperative. Room rates are high if you consider their service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very bad experience with Kolkata City Tour. The Guide isn't responsible enough to maintain punctuality when other group members are being late. Other members are taking their own time to complete seeing each place. Didn't even visit all the places. Spoilt the whole day trip. Not at all recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a state govt. owned tourism department in West Bengal to manage and operate tourist complexes in different locations of the state. Though , it's a face of the state, but does not care tourists of own as well as other states , properly. Budgets are not at all pocket friendly and service is not up to the mark. The Government should do proper improvement for the tourism sector .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very much fishy and corrupted management. They are opening only 15% - 25% of total rooms for online booking and rest 75% - 85% selling to private tour operators at a higher price. Thus they are cheating with ordinary travelers. This type of system is never expected from State Tourism Development Corporation and can not be found in any Indian State. Shame on their policy.
