ALL INDIA WOMEN'S CONFERENCE CALCUTTA BRANCH Established in 1927, registered in 1930, Calcutta Branch is one of the oldest Branch Centrals of AIWC. AIWC, the earliest women's organization at national level, has been engaged in bringing about pro-women legislative reforms in independent India . Member of the United Nations (ECOSOC), AIWC actively promotes right of women at the global level. The priority areas to Calcutta Branch include Education, Empowerment of Women, Financial Self-sufficiency; Child Care, Health Care, Promoting Awareness. For 90years Calcutta Branch has been engaged in the AIWC effort at improving the quality of life at the lower stratum of the society. Our developing country passes through significant stages in social growth, altering patterns of deprivation, inequity and exploitation. Calcutta Branch of AIWC and the six Constituent Branches under it, are sensitive to the changing rhythm and they carry on their activities-- varying the focus as required in the different parts of the metropolis and as permissible with their limited resources. Reported by: Chandrani Neogie Zonal Organizer, East Zone, AIWC .
