This is one of the least known caves for those outside vijayawada. but for those who live in the city, this one is quite popular. we cannot enter inside them though due to security issues during special events and this means there isn't much to really experience by touching or entering it. This is also kind of protected.

Very ancient caves believed to 2nd century BC may be even older. They were visible to public after the renovation of the Indrakeerladri base as the part of 7 storied rajagopuram and mahamandapam. It depicts the significant and vivid history of Sathavahanas, vishnukundinulu kulikutubshahis and many more dynasties ruled this bezawada and the scriptures, sasanas about the bezawada and kanakadurga but neglected by the archeological department, kanakadurga temple and governments. One must visit and learn the magnificent history of Bezawada, Indrakeeladri and kanakadurgamma.

You could be forgiven for missing this place since its gates are kept closed. It lies on the path to the holy Sri Ameya Durga Malleswari Kanaka Durga temple, and almost everybody just misses it. The caves have been run down due to vandalism and acute weathering yet one can still figure out the carvings of Hindu deities like Lord Ganesha on the cave's outer walls. The caves are *infested* with squirrels, so be prepared for them jumping out of the dark caves, only to scamper away! Do pay heed to the pillars of the portico at the end of the cave complex with inscriptions in Brahmi script. It's heart rending to see the dilapidated condition of the caves but imagining the effort invested in building them and carving them out of the hills is just mind boggling!
