★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I got the opportunity to facilitate 8 sessions of Expressive Arts Therapy for individuals with disabilities through the Akshadhaa Foundation in July and July '21 as a part of my training in ExAT through St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. It has truly been a rewarding learning experience to witness the creative expression and growth of the participants through various art modalities. Their willingness to explore and be a part of each session reinforced the value of 'process' and 'play', the two most essential aspects of ExAT. I am grateful for this opportunity, and look forward to being able to conduct many such sessions with all my learnings in tow. My best wishes and deepest appreciation for Sumana Ma'am and the team behind Akshadhaa for working so hard to create a safe, caring and dignifying space that caters to special needs.

Ever since the lockdown began, various aspects of my education became a challenge, especially the thought of finding an offline internship. Most of the places do not hire interns due to COVID-19, but Akshadhaa foundation is unlike them. The institution emphasises on providing quality exposure to all interns who look out for practical experience. The supervisors are extremely professional and empathetic towards all the students, the staff and the interns. The guidance provided was immeasurable. The institution made sure to provide us with practical understanding regarding all the processes that occur that include education, physical therapy, social skills etc. Apart from this, it is a platform where autonomy and creativity is highly encouraged. The supervisors and the staffs always show encouragement to sharpen our skills. It was a holistic experience where I had immense learning as well as lot of fun. I am really thankful to Akshadhaa foundation for being so informative and introducing me to this field.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As a student pursuing her master's and seeking a career in special education, the knowledge and experience I have gained from interning at akshadhaa has be elephantine. Akshadhaa is one place that is readily open to accept new minds and the opportunities it provides for one to explore and learn is numerous. The constant encouragement and guidance from my supervisors has helped me understand how every child is unique and how we can cater to their needs in the same unique way. The administration at akshadhaa have been very cooperative and flexible in accommodating interns and making sure we all take away a sizeable amount of learning. In the one month that I had spent with them, I have been able to nurture my skills in teaching and understanding students and the various different techniques that can be used to them. It has helped broaden our knowledge and given us a close experience to interacting with children. Despite the challenges we faced with connecting online, the enthusiasm in both the teachers and students alike gave us a boost for whatever we did. Overall, my experience at Akshadhaa has been one that is rich in learning and pleasantly motivating to further pursue this career path. I warmly thank our supervisors and the administration for providing us such an opportunity and am grateful to have worked with them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Akshadhaa foundation special school is a unit with all the therapies provided under one roof like occupational therapy, physiotherapy, special education, sensory integration therapy, play therapy etc, which makes the child to learn and grow in all different aspects. The therapies are provided by highly qualified, trained and expert professionals. Highly recommend akshadhaa foundation for the therapies.
