Visited on 9th Nov 2019. Unique vav with a L-shaped plan. Simpler than most of the other well-known vavs. Was quite clean when I went there. Worth a visit. Pics attached. Pano is a bit wonky, it's difficult to photograph the L-shape.

This vav is peculiar for its L shaped construction hence called as in gujarati as katkhuni vav or L shape. Once you reach this location , as shown in Google, don't get disheartened if entry gate is locked. Adjacent to vav is a temple whose priest will give you the keys with a request to return without forgetting. Just as you enter, read the description of vav and soak in the historic heritage monument built for reaching the well at an angle. You appreciate as you move along and around the Vav. Well maintained and worth visiting. Enjoy.

Amrutvarshini vaav. Name itself shows is meaning. It was developed in ancient times to cop up with water shortage and rain water harvesting. It store the rain water and the water stored in this step will is like Amrit means nectar. It's L shaped step well in busy area like kalupur of Ahmedabad. This place is not known to many local residents. But after archeological undertaking it became known to many people like us. It's adjacent to panch kuva darwaja. Perhaps the name of panch kuva darwaja is came this step well.

This Vav belongs to late Mughal period when economic prosperity of Gujarat drastically declined and a period of political chaos began. This vav is small but beautiful. Crossbeams, general feature of Gujarati vav have been replaced by arches.
