Babubhai Jagjivandas was established in 1919 by an enterprising young teenager – Babubhai Ravji Goradia – who had left his village in Gujarat to seek fortune in the promising land of Bombay. He started on his journey by establishing a small 50 sq.ft. tailoring shop with a small assortment of fabric at Prarthana Samaj – which was then situated at the heart of colonial Bombay. Things have come a long way since then. Today BJ is widely recognized as one of the largest and the most respected fabric retailers with four stores – at Prarthana Samaj, Dadar, Mulund & Vashi – and over 30,000sq.ft. of retail space. Family owned for three generations BJ has earned the distinction of being one of the most trusted retail brands of the city of Mumbai
