This place is under excavation, very recently in Sept.2017 while using JCP beautiful sculptures have come to surface. On close observation by the Archeological Survey of India and the visiting scholars of Mumbai University Pali Department & students it was identified that this site belongs to the period of 6th to 8th and onward century CE shows transformation of Buddhist culture to Brahaminical culture.

It is an important place with the historic value. Lot of statues/ carvings found here in the excursion which still need restoration and further study. There is an old couple looking after the mandir in it and doing daily rituals..other than that there is no guarding which is very sad... Typical indian thing!!!! Now ..due to election time, excursion is stopped and they are awaiting for the budget to get sanctioned. According to that old man, many sculptures are now getting disturb/ harmed due to local visitors who are messing around with it and they have actually broke some of the statues. Some authorities need to seriously look in to this.

There's ongoing excavation at the location. One inscription was also found during excavation which was taken to Aurangabad center of ASI for further research. Great place for archaeology lovers and explorers. A must visit place to the lovers of history and culture. A lot of statues, pillars, walls are being excavated at the particular place.

This temple, built in the 12th century, is a must visit for people who visit the nearby ambajogai temple. It is about 2.5 km away from the devi temple. After you climb a few steps in front of the Mandir, there are two concentric circles of pillars. The outer circle has 12 pillars, hence the name "Bara Khambi" Mandir. The inner circle has eight pillars. This being a Shiva temple there is a big Nandi outside and the main chamber has a few steps that you use to go down to reach the innermost part of the temple. From a distance the temple looks like a Shiva Linga. This place needs better restore ration to preserve the heritage from 800 years ago.

A small lord shivas temple was there before. In 2018 monk of the temple was cleaning the area and he found bigger temple under roof. There were nice carvings found on the wall and many of them are in good condition. May be that carvings were hidden under mud is the reason of good condition. Hideness secured the carvings from moghal and other Muslim attacks. Same temple has Hindus mahaveers as well as Buddhist carvings. Local guide told us for this reason gov of India forcefully stoped further research. Government not even interested to protect what locals found here. Tourists came here and destroy things or stole it. Puratatva vibhag is as usual *****. Please do visit this place and make it popular. It's just 2 to 3 kms from Yogeshwari temple.
