★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Belapur fort watch tower. Located bang opposite the nmmc building. It provides a great glimpse into our lives. On one hand you have the very modern looking nmmc building and opposite to it stands the Belapur fort watch tower. Reminding us of our past. Our rich cultural heritage. The good quality of construction of the Belapur fort watch tower stands testimony as it still stands among all the ruins. It's quite sad though as it lies in quite a neglected state. It is located in quite a busy intersection. And there is always the concern that if it is neglected so much. It could be easily destroyed just in the name of development. Some efforts need to be made to uplift the condition of the Belapur fort watch tower. Or it won't exist in a few years.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This might be the most prominent, most accessible and yet most ignored place in Navi Mumbai.
This place has history written all over the place, but the urbanization is taking toll on this historical heritage. There is a govt park just behind the tower and road goes from back of the police station to the garden. Nice calm and quiet place to visit within reach of small time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was really really surprised at how this place exists like right in the middle of a buzzing traffic junction. It looks ancient with trees and creepers growing on it. It's actually a great place for kids to play I realized because it's a bit spooky.
Also locals will tell you not to go here cuz it's so small. I only went cuz I was jobless and had to kill time.

Their is one iron made spiral, through which u can go above of the watchtower, but that's also not in good condition, this watchtower is exactly opposite to nmmc head office.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its hard to believe that a significantly imp peice of history resides here in belapur.
This coastal fort of belapur is at present in a very dilapidated condition which is nearly more than 400 yrs old. This fort has changed many hands starting from Portuguese who built it as it was to marathas to finally british east india company who finally demolished the main structure so that no one else can use it as base against the british empire.
The fort has two parts one the gate way which is at towards the main land that guarded the fort from any adversaries from behind or main land(exactly opp to NMMC ofc now) and the second part consists of the main fort on hill top. The hill top fort provides a wide view of the creek which implies that the possesser of the forr had the control over the movements from sea to main land of belapur. Also this place have witnessed couple of bloody battles.
This place is is worth visiting. Visit and feel the glorious past of the region.
Recently the region MLA has sanctioned great amount of fund for revamping of this place to make it a tourist and local attractions.
