*The Samadhi Mandir lights up*
It was in November 1950 that K M. Bhagvati went to Shirdi for the removal of the ‘bedi’ (anklet), his family priest removed the anklet and paced it on the Samadhi. They had brought a beautiful ‘chadder’ of flowers from Mumbai. A ‘chadder is a long horizontal garland strung with numerous perpendicular garlands to form a veil. The ‘chadder’ was placed on the Samadhi with devotion and immense gratitude.
At that time the structural work of the Samadhi was just completed, but the electrical installation was yet to be done. Bhagvati immediately requested the Sansthan to allow him to do it and they consented. He was very glad as his family business had been of Licensed Electrical Engineers and Contractors and his firm was called Bhagvati and Company. Upon returning home his brother an electrical engineer readily agreed to undertake the installation.
The work was completed quite satisfactorily and in time. On the day of the inauguration a short time before the lights were to be turned on they were unable to do so. The best materials had been used, the staff was very competent and the system was checked and rechecked. In spite of their best efforts the lights wouldn’t come on. The Manager who was devoted to Baba sat in front of the Samadhi and prayed begging to be forgiven for any mistakes that they had made. And Lo! The lights came on, and the entire Samadhi Mandir was lit up brightly. Bhagvati felt elated that he and his family had contributed their mite of gratitude in this form. Unfortunately his full name is not given nor the name of his father who had the good fortune to meet Baba.
