★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The airstrip was built by the British in 1940.Initially run by the Public Works Department, it was taken over by the state-ownedMaharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in August 1998to December 2005, after which it has been operated by the Airports Authority of India(AAI). The AAI extended the runway at Gondia airport to 7,500 feet to handle larger aircraft such as Airbus A-320 and Boeing 737.

The airport is equipped with a Non Directional Beacon and DVOR, Distance Measuring Equipment, Instrument Landing System and night landing facilities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 26/03/2022: Operational now, recently flybig company running flight to and fro between Gondia-Indor and Gondia-Hyderabad daily! Happy to see that. Passengers strength is good here. Hope to see it grow.
Old Review: Like most of the things, British made airport of Gondia. Stuck in politics and bureaucracy.
Gondia ariport along with gondia could have grown but what to say whole Maharashtra means Mumbai and Pune only.
Area has lot of free land(not occupied) can be used for international sports stadium, National level medical(AIIMS) or engineering(IITs) etc colleges.
If politician really care about Gondia they can do.
