Cafe Kathaa - Pune

Kathaa in simple terms mean a Story. This is a Story well told and worth narrating. So here is the Story of Cafe Kathaa. Cafe Kathaa is conceptually different from all the other Cafes in Pune. It was conceived as a book cafe, it still is- they have a good Library and it is romantic to see booklovers flock here to read and also have a Cuppa and some munchies to nibble on. They also organise book reading sessions, art classes, workshops, career guidance counseling and what not. The place, even on a weekday is full of admirers; the clientele from all age groups visit- I was pleasantly surprised to see a group of retired Merchant Navy fellas, all in their 60s, having a social. It is also super pet friendly, so we took our gangsters Atlas, Alaska the huskies and Havana, the golden retriever. They had a field day literally and it was a sight to see them instantly making friends with many customers, people taking selfies and all with them. They have an array of seating areas, both inside and outdoor in different clusters in and around the Kathaa Villa. The interiors are beautiful in an old world charm meets modernity type approach. The Villa reminded me of my ancestral home in God's Own Country. Their service is incredibly fast, staff is courteous and knows what they are serving. Drinks/ Beverages were a pleasure to sip on especially the Hot Chocolate which leaves a soothing effect on your palate. Two mocktails I had here - Guava-chilli Lemoande- A very light drink infused with guava, a hint of chilli, thimble squish of club soda and a chop of lime. Watermelon Mojito- This Mojito rejuvenates you from inside, the watermelon brings in an added freshness to the drink. Beetroot cutlet with mint chutney- The best Veggie Cutlet I've ever had till now. Crispy on the outside, soft inside and really yum. Firecracker spring rolls- very innovative, shaped like a squid with meduzza tentacles, verily crunchy and the noodles cooked perfectly. Cajun spiced french fries- These fries are crisp and a generous sprinkle of cajun spice, a very handy finger food. Masala omelette sandwich- This is their flagship dish, ingenious, creative and clever. It is mushy inside and the crunch outside gives it a unique way about it. Mexican corn fried rice with piri piri paneer and Burnt garlic rice with paneer chilli - both are wok sautéed rice with flavours which are delectable, mildly spiced and feels absolutely delightful on the palate. Banana Nutella waffles- This is an epic dessert of waffles with a liberal application of nutella and chops of banana. The hazelnut- choco flavour duo suits perfectly well with the waffle to arrive at a delish dish. Folks, this is the place to bring your furry friends, sip on a piping hot chocolate and read a book or catch with old friends or have a reunion in the solace of the old world charm of the smell of books! My kinda place!

One of the best cafe I Have ever visited. The ambiance is extremely delightful and unique. It's an old Maharashtrian house converted nicely into a cafe. Every different dining space has vivid colours and beautiful lighting arrangement. The unique thing is their library which has many different books from various genres, one can sit here as long as he wants. The food and beverage menu is quite good. All the appetizers and bowls are really great in quality and quantity. They serve Italian, Asean, Chinese cuisine and with some Indian twist. This is an ideal place to spend your leisure time alone or with friends. This is a good option even for the cozy & romantic dates. Overall it's really a pleasant vibe all over this place and good food. looking forward to visit again for sure.

Everything I tried here was super tasty, fresh and plated beautifully. Even the beverages were superb. The Hot Chocolate was rich, chocolatey with a generous sprinkling of cocoa. The Guava Chilli Lemonade is an amazing option in the cold beverages, it's served in a salt-rimmed glass and tastes just refreshing. The Vegan Ramen was one of the highlights of my meal. Yes, they have an entirely vegetarian menu with egg options. This ramen was super flavourful, spicy with plenty of tofu, spinach and mushrooms and seasoning. The broccoli almond soup was nice too, and is served with a slice of buttered sourdough. The Firecracker Spring Rolls were super crunchy, thick and yum and come along with a nice fresh schezwan chutney. I also tried their Sourdough Crostini with Hummus and Grilled Veg. So, so good! I just loved it and especially the hummus layer was amazing. The Cheese Bulgur Wheat Kibbeh was also good but i felt the covering could be prepared a bit more crispy. Still tasty, though. In the mains, the Thai Green Curry was absolutely spot on. It came as a single large bowl with the rice on the side, the curry smelled and tasted brilliant. For dessert, I tried the Tiramisu which was really nice. The place is pet friendly, super open and the indoors is a nice comfy seating area with bookshelves all around. I also loved meeting a doggo who's apparently a regular visitor here! But most importantly even though it's vegetarian, the food here is a must try! Everything is delicious.

Knew this place since long, but couldn’t experience it before. Had a chance to experience it because of a clients meeting. Its a nice boutique cafe in the inside lane of the busy FC road. Mostly filled with college students. The outdoors are nice and calm. With lot of hues and colours it showcases its vibrancy. We just had a cup of tea, but I am sure they will have good finger food to serve. The best part is that they have a Ather charging station outside their cafe.

Loved the aesthetics of the place. They have indoor as well as outdoor sitting. And in indoor areas there are bookshelves where you can pick a book while you sip on the yumm food items they serve. The menu has a good variety and the we had pasta and a club sandwich with hot chocolate and guava lemonade and loved all of it.

The ambiance of the cafe is good. Every room is unique from each other. The interior is done amazingly. The quality of the food is also good. It's a nice place to do office work from there if you have work from home. It's gives you a different vibe and calm that's makes you sit there for a long time. Must try it out!

Okay so they have done pretty awesome job with ambience. 5 stars for that. But if we talk about food here. It is not that much satisfactory. They cost really high and taste is also not that much good. If i am reading a book it is important that place is cozy. I am not gonna sit on chair and read. Bean bags are must. Cozy nook is much needed.

Service : poor quality service and staff weren't polite enough and the behaviour was not good. It felt like they judge and decide who should stay and who should leave . Food : I have attached the QR for the menu . You can see the price and the details by scanning the QR. Well I ordered 4 cheese pizza worth 350 And it tasted like margarita . Not worth it. Ambience : It only wins in ambience . They have created an outer dining.. which is beautiful and two inside sitting with different decoration. The one is with the sofa .best for coffee and work . The other inside sitting is with books . Best for writers , readers, meeting, work . However my personal experience is I don't just pay money or invest time for ambience. Food quality and staff service matters more to me. Hygiene and atmosphere matters to me. So my rating is only for ambience and rest was not worth it.
