★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Avoid this place at any cost. Both my father and I had a serious case of food poisoning after eating their vithal dosa and batata wada. It was clear that the food was a day old - we were hungry and unfortunately endured it (to our regret). Everything , ranging from their batter to chutney is old.
They claim to be the best South Indian food in Lonavala, but this is wrong. Avoid Cafe Vindhyas at any cost.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yummy south Indian food but the coffee was not satisfactory. The place is pricey but you expect that when it's a part of The Orchid Hotel. We tried the Kothambir Wadi (excellent!), Paniyaram, Batata Wada and the Bisibele Bath (yum!). We were served three chutneys - tomato (orange), coconut (white) and pudina (green). The rasam that accompanied one of the dishes was also authentic and very tasty! The place would've rated higher if the coffee was better and if they had a washroom easily accessible (you have to leave the cafe and walk to the back of the hotel to wash your hands!) Another thing I found annoying was when I asked the waiter to turn the fan on, he didn't do it until I had to remind him again. And finally after we paid the bill, he immediately turned it off even though we were still sitting at the table! Anyway, overall, expect a clean place that charges slightly above average prices but serves good south Indian food.

Everything started when we ordered Thali and the waiter said we can't share. We ordered other items also and still we were told by the waiter that items from the Thali cannot be shared.
I don't understand the system for a fixed thali how on earth does it matter if it is shared.
For an unlimited Thali I can fully accept the criteria. But for a fixed thali!!!! Ridiculous... Encouraging food wastage to a large extent.
I hate this place for encouraging food wastage by not allowing me to share the extra food.
No fault with the waiter as he was instructed that way by his manager. Also the manager didn't turn up when asked to speak to him on this matter... Another way for being rude to a customer. ???
I cancelled my order and left the place for good.

We just stopped here as it looked very appealing from the road when passing, we took a u-turn and it was worth the effort!!
One of the best authentic south-Indian food I have had.
