CARA
Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) is a statutory body of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. It functions as the nodal body for adoption of Indian children and is mandated to monitor and regulate in-country and inter-country adoptions. CARA is designated as the Central Authority to deal with inter-country adoptions in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention on Inter-country Adoption, 1993, ratified by Government of India in 2003.
CARA primarily deals with adoption of orphan, abandoned and surrendered children through its associated /recognised adoption agencies.

Process seems to be okay till the survey,once you deposit money to agency,no action after that. Wait, wait and only wait, that's what people receive from them.

β β β β β Very frustrating. They are very polite to talk. But when it comes to real work, no one is actually trying to help. I registered 3 months ago and Home Study not uploaded by them even after one month of report submission. Now format has changed and they want everything afresh.

β β β β β Legal way to adopt child in India and this is the only nodal body for adoption in India situated in West Block-8 R K Puram nearby Mohan Singh Market. Nearest Metro is Bhikaji Kama Place. Best and only way to adopt child in India but worst place to work in such type of organisation. This is not CARA , actually it is a CARAWAAS for their contractual employees and the base of working of CARA are their Contractual employees. Typical ΰ€ͺΰ₯ΰ€°ΰ€ΰ€Ύΰ€€ΰ€ΰ€€ΰ₯ΰ€° followed in this organisation.

β β β β β Recently visited CARA office with respect to some enquiry. Contrary to my expectation (from what I experienced deal with government office in the past), the visit was absolutely pleasant and helpful. The staff members including the security guard was very courteous and helpful. I think they are doing a great job.
Giving a 4 star because I was told that they don't respond to phone calls.

β β β β β They are doing a wonderful job and the system is way more streamlined than before. However, if the staff take the feedbacks / complaint constructively, wonderful cahnges can be made to further improve the process. I had been to CARA office in Delhi many times. Some of the staff here are very knowledgeable and forthcoming and extremely helpful. I had a chance to interact with one such wonderful lady Ms. Aparna here. She is very helpful and enthusiastic.
It is an unfortunate thing that I could not complete the adoption process after waiting for 2.5 years. Nevertheless, the team is doing an extremely wonderful job and by taking feedbacks more constructively from PAPs, CARA would definitely be one of the best Government run organization in the country.
Goodluck to the team ?You are Ray of hope for many couples and single PAPs.
