Chand baori or stepwell in Abaneri consist of 3,500 narrow steps over 13 stories. The baori served an religious and ceremonial purpose as in arid Rajasthan desert the water filler baori served as boon. Influenced heavily by Mughal & Rajput Architecture. The sheer scale of the stepwell is remarkable in terms of size, profusion of sculpture and quality of workmanship.

Do not take a guide since the information available on the board outside the venue is all they speak about. Even then if you want the guide. Try bargaining. It works. The entry cost is about 25 rupees each I guess. And it has a temple beside it. The story is good and the architecture is amazing. A must visit place.

famous baori or step well is the architecturally splendid and sculpturally beautiful Harshat Mata temple which was built between the 7th-8th centuries. The same was destroyed and damaged by Mahmud Ghazni. Many of its pillars, columns, statues now lie scattered in the temple courtyard and in the corridors of the structure. Clean and well maintained , a detour was worth the experience.

Open from 9am - 5pm.Chand Baori is a deep four-sided well with a large temple on the back face of the building. The basic architectural aspects of the monumental well consist of a long corridor of steps leading to five or six stories below ground level which can be seen at the site.

It's always fascinating to peep in history. Chand baori and temple remains near it speak their story how foreign invaders didn't left any monument in their original position. A historically important place to show our kids about how aware we were from long ago about water saving. My kids were fascinated to see step well and temple. Not so far from Jaipur, take a long drive with family and enjoy the route . No crowd today. Not much tourist footfall these days. Do shop something to help those people who earn by their shop. Get some amazing pictures. Hope this help

Deepest Step well. Nice calm place not much crowded. Rs 25 ticket for cash and Rs 20 if bought online. Parking right opposite main gate no charge. Narrow road once you exit Dausa highway. Road condition is poor.

Beautiful place. The symmetry of the steps is dizzying and the depth makes you wonder about the people who climbed six storeys everyday just to fetch water. It would be nice if the water itself was cleaned regularly.

A very interesting place with surprisingly low tourism. Being a little more than an hour’s drive away from Jaipur, it doesn’t see a lot of local tourists as not many Indians are aware of it, but it’s a must see for its sheer beauty. There’s also a lot of ancient stone sculptures on display here, ruins from the nearby Harshat Mata temple. You can see them up close and experience the art of an era long lost. A must see if you have some extra time on your Jaipur visit.
