★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Department of Biotechnology, Savitribai Phule Pune University (University with potential for excellence) established in 1994 offers a two year M.Sc. Biotechnology Course supported by the Department of Biotechnology(DBT), Government of India. It also offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in Biotechnology and related areas. This department since its inception emphasizes on appointing and inculcating meritorious faculty in various specialised branches in Biotechnology. The faculty members have been excellent teachers and research scientists, and most of them are fellows of National Academies. They are members of various National Committees, and task force of various National funding agencies. The members have excellent records of publication in journals with high impact factors and National and International patents. This Department is also involved in developing various national programmes in Biotechnology.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Department of Biotechnology, SPPU is one of the best DBT funded departments for Masters biotechnology in India. All the best students who crack JNU-CEEB exam get admission in the masters COURSE here. Although the building is small but the exposure students obtain from here is huge. The best thing about this dept. is the teachers as they are always available to help students and give them time whenever they need it. The Practicals are conducted very properly and every student gets hands-on training for the experiments. Most of the students who pass out from here get-through reputed places for their PhD and qualify all the major entrance exams for PhD.
