★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the Government of Goa's department of information, which is tasked with the job of publicising the governmental schemes &c to citizens of the state. Unfortunately, they mostly stoop to the level of just projecting the politicians in power, and making sure they report on their words of wisdom (uttered at public functions) in a way that takes the attention to our politicos.
Way back in the 1980s, at least this department would make an occasion tour to 'developmental projects' in Goa, thus giving information to the citizen about what the work the government was undertaken. Now, it's largely focussed on reporting on official functions, and that too, on speeches made by politicians there!
This department's job is also to announce press briefings, scan papers for what the citizens/media is saying and pass this on to the government (what they call 'Feedback Services'), decide which journalists should be 'accredited', and publish the Nave Parve bulletin of the government (which hardly anyone notices or reads), besides publishing the annual official directory of senior government staff (which could have been a useful publication for the citizen but isn't easily available to the public).
If you check the 'schemes' pages of the department, you'll find there are a lot of things there to keep the media the government wants it to be -- friendly to officialdom and dependent on it.
