Went today for my son's(2y10m) evaluation. We were looking forward for the visit and we're quite enthusiastic about it. We have come a long way from a totally non verbal child(6months bk) to 2-3word meaningful sentences, toilet trained, speaking needs and going to normal school playgroup. For us these all were huge gains which were keeping us motivated. But when we met the analyst we felt she was in a hurry or something. She didn't go through the previous records also. She straight away started pointing that he can't do this, he is lacking here, he is not doing that. He did most of the things she asked him to do. Like touch nose, clap hands, object matching, sorting, picture identifications. But she was emphasing more on what he didn't do. May be she wanted us to know which areas we need to work but her attitude, her tone and her way of communicating with parents was blunt. We as parents of autistic and special needs children are already highly stressed out and we try to be hopeful and come to institutions like yours with so much hope but all this rough comments can really shatter any parents confidence and motivation. Kindly work on moral values first on how to convey information in a right way. We all are here to work for our child's betterment. When we asked for her evaluation she refused to give us any documentation also said it will be given only if we join the course which was quite unprofessional. Any big institute like yours or any doctor or therapist does gives what are your findings and a plan what should be done at least. I am really unhappy and feel so sorry for wasting my time, money and emotions to visit the dew drops center today. Total waste and money making business.
