District Museum- Vidisha - Vidisha

They don't even mentioned the sculpture names and very rudely behavior

Located near Bidisha Railway Station, this museum has a wide range of collection of artefacts and sculptures, though not very well maintained. Govt of MP and district admin should look after the proper maintenance of this huge collection and promote it as a place of tourist attraction to earn more revenue. Must visit for those who are interested in history, archaeology and religion.

Good collection but upkeep does not match. Varaha in the garden is not to be missed

Historical Monuments of Buddhism and Jainism. Also the 10feet highted statue of KUBER BHAGAVAN, and Bhairav ji is world famous. Everyone should have to visit.

An excellent museum that has wonderful antique sculpture mostly from 11th century onwards that should not be missed and a must visit when you are in Vidisha. Some of the excellent sculpture covering standing devotee with folded hands, unique life size carving of vishnu with several assistants, immortal vishnu with the crown and assistants on a red color stone, facial expressions of simplistic vishnu and lakshmi, intimate carving of uma maheshwar with tiny details, broken hands with side posture of kaala bairava?, impressive postures of apsaras, lively expressions of standing laksmi and helper assistants, realistic kaumari head,mutilated face of four armed hands of shiva, wonderful carving of seated gomeda and ambika,wonderful ganesha with several hands,happy moods of male and female guardians carved together, carving of devi pratima in meditative posture,excellent life size carving of sun god with minute details, unique carving of vishnu with big tummy?,immortal carving of garuda carrying vishnu, stylish curves of several apsaras, excellent snake god and godess standing together, lively carving of woman getting ready to kiss husband, several impressive life size carvings of jain thirthankaras, several tiny jain teachers with elephants and musicians, unique carving of lady holding the child under the snake hood like laksmi?, several standing and meditating postures of jain gurus makes you to travel into a different worlds of 10th century which is fantastic.The outer open corridors is also lively with stunning images of kaala bairava, ananta padmanabha, unique and wonderfully carved big size pig and a lady feeling transcendence by touching it,life size kubera, tiny thirthankaras with so many followers makes the museum an important place to feel the art of the ancient times.

There are lots of sculptures inside the museum. But lack of maintenance , no proper lighting or any type of showing techniques. Govt. Should take steps ...

Historical monuments is very beautiful and amazing architecture splendid.The district museum well maintained neat and clean peaceful environment.The museum situated H.N.204 Block colony Durga Nagar Vidisha M.P.Big collection of ancient statues and Beautiful sculptures from 1Century A.D. Vidisha imperial capital and later in the Gupta period under the name of Basenagar or Bhailsa.Must see with family and friends.

Amazing place for history and archeology lovers. The Kuber statue is gigantic and one of it's kind in the world, you will just going to say wow. There are many masterpieces of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The staff is very very friendly and helpful. A must visit place in Vidisha.
