Dr. Vihang N Vahia - Mumbai

I give him zero star, he has forgotten his duty he is more interested in earning money rather than giving proper treatment to his patient. Dr. Vahia try to earn blessings from people, don't earn curse from our hard earned money

Had met Dr Vahia at lilavati. After a couple of sessions of very short time, he asked me to get few tests done and gave me the specific contact where the tests were supposed to be done. these were expensive tests but nevertheless, I got them done as instructed. I was surprised when I met him post the tests with the results - he didn't even look at the tests results and told me to carry on the medication for 3 more months. When I instigated him, he just read the first page for a while and dismissed it. He was clearly in a hurry (by the way, none of my appointments went over 5 minutes). I might be wrong, but this clearly looked like a case where he asked me to go for the tests without any significant reason - not to mention that I spent almost 6k in those tests at a place suggested by him. I must say that the overall experience was very poor as I never got much time with him as he clearly wanted to sign off in 5 minutes so that he could see other clients. And I am extremely disappointed with the fact that he made me go through the tests and didnt even look at it - infact I asked few questions related to the tests results but he dismissed even the apparent important observations in the results as if the test wasn't important - wonder why he asked me to get it done at the first place. Unless, he had spoken with the Doctor who did my tests before meeting me and had gone though the results, I thought his approach was unacceptable. I might be wrong in my evaluation, but my personal experience was far from satisfactory - the priority here was definitely not the client and his/her issues but time and money.

The worst possible doctor to go to. He is insensitive, money making, unethical doctor. He has totaly spoilt my uncles health . I request no one to go to him at all.

My friend visited him and let me tell you that he is absolutely insensitive. He himself doesn't understand the importance of mental health and instead of giving therapy or treating, he was inducing anxiety by his words and actions. I really want to know from where you got your degree so I can beware of people from the same college.

Extremely unprofessional. Visit for genetic anxiety disorder. But doctor did not even ask about medical history or family history. Dismissed anxiety symptoms as imaginary and gave generic advice such as "take a walk everyday" and "think glass half full not empty"

Very happy with the treatment. My wife has been struggling for many years changing doctor's, but the first visit to Dr. Vahia showed tremendous improvements. Also liked the way doctor explained the reasons for giving the medicines.

The ones who are looking for psychiatrist - please please DO NOT GO TO HIM. It's not because I have anything against him - but the kind of horrendous treatment one of my family member recd. for over years is something which cannot be sufficiently captured in words. His behaviour is horrendous - he used to shout at the patient (i.e. my family member), would not have the patience to deal with the patient and nor with the family to resolve their concerns, shouts at family members too, would make us go for the blood tests and then not refer to reports at all, gives a very high dosage and not remember that his dosage is the actual cause for the problems in patient - and he charges real high at every visit. Not like we are not ready to pay, as our family member is precious; however for his behaviour, approach and treatment is absurd - he should be condemned and not allowed to practice for such behaviour and causing such heavy damage to my family member with such high dosage. I say this confidently as my dear family meber recd. better treatment after moving away from Dr. Vahia. Here it is am capturing the problems we faced over years: 1. Never answered the call in emergency. If he did, then would shout saying that "it was his sleeping time" and here the patient was in miserable shape but it did not matter to him. Pls know the fact, the calling time was 9pm. 2. He happened to give a very high dosage to the patient leading to multiple problems - we landed up with another doctor (our luck to find a good doctor). Another doctor immediately identified the side effects which were in the patient for 6 months and treated the patient well (my family member is on the way to recovery, we thank god for sending us another doctor and finally moving away from Dr. Vahia). Pls another fact to note, is for 6 months Dr. Vahia was conveniently ignoring, shouting and giving high dosage to my family member plus charging a very high fee at every monthly / bi monthly visit - which the new doctor treated the side effects within 3 days and remaining treatment has been working beautifully of another doctor. The patient is on the road to complete recovery, touchwood. 3. I have lot many other negative points abut Dr. Vahia - but unable to capture it all here. I am not trying to propose any particular doctor here, but am recommending to not to go to Dr. Vahia pls - given more than anything, peoples lives are precious which he is not at all bothered about and is only concerned about making money. Only if I had such kind of review about Dr. Vahia before - We would have saved all our monies, respect and specially the suffering which my family member had to go through. Therefore for others to have a complete feedback about him, am putting this. Wishing the best in finding the best doctor who is compassionate - as mental illness requires compassion and not such money making so called doctors. Ps: If I had chance of putting negative star rating - I would have. Pls do not fall for his fancy background (I had fallen for it and was trying to keep patience hoping that he could cure my family member - but he rather made it hell for us). I know of 2 more families to who he has ill treated as well. Wishing the very best and finding the right doctor to provide the right treatment, god bless. Thanks

He's an extremely rude psychiatrist. He insulted female patients if they don't want to take treatment from him when he was in V. N . Desai Hospital. Just because the young female patient was uncomfortable and scared to go to him as she had heard first hand about his character, he collected his department's whole staff in a room . They were all sitting and that female patient was made to stand and he used abusive words for her, insulted and humiliated her in front of everyone. His junior doctors laughed at the patient while tears were flowing down her cheeks. This is the way this psychiatrist treats a patient suffering anxiety and depression. He's a very cruel person. He should be prosecuted under the MENTAL HEALTH CARE ACT 2017. He's unfit to be a psychiatrist.
