★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is divided into 2 parts. One for Maitree Express which goes to Bangladesh and another for all other Indian trains. All nationality can buy tickets for Maitree but only non Indians can buy tickets for Indian trains. Be sure to come early as they are very very slow. Only 1 Toilet is inside, so be prepared for that. Don't forget to bring your passport.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cards not accepted, only cash. They ask for a passport copy, if you don't have one you can have it copied somewhere across the street as a photocopier is unheard-of technology here. If you want to buy a ticket less than 4 hours before train departure you will have to go to the train station as there's no current reservation counter here. Basically, this is a We-make-fun-of-our-customers office.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Filled to the brim with Bangladeshi Nationals. Don't expect a "for westerners only" experience. Opens at 10am but already a long line out front. Fill out a form w a number and wait to be called. I sat for 2 hrs waiting to be seen for a Dhaka train ticket and ended up complaining a few times and eventually they let me skip ahead. Mind you most are buying very very low class seats so even when they're upset they are less so when they see how much you're paying. Waiting area has some old chairs but is air conditioned. Bring a book or movies on your phone. Toilet inside. The counters close midday for lunch break. Enjoy!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took the train from Varanasi to Kolkata and we arrived here at 8h30 in the morning on the 8 of January 2020. We wanted to buy train tickets to Dhaka, we knew that we should book some days in advance. You can book only For the 10th there was no available places but we could buy for the 11th. We mentioned that we didn't need the first class. We pay 2930 rupees for two tickets. You need the visa already and the passport to get the tickets. Also they will give a form to fill in, just ask when there is availability for the train.
At 12h30 we get our tickets ?
You need to be at kolkata (chitpur) station at 5h30 to pass the immigration. And that's it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst foreign reservation centre in India, where officers are too slow and unprofessional. I want to share one incident with you. Two officers were serving for the foreigners to book the ticket. One officer took 37 minutes to book 4 tickets of one single group consisting of 4 group members. Another officer meanwhile took 20 minutes to book a ticket. When the lunch break or recession time( for each officer gets 30 minutes; one from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, another from 1:30 to 2:00 pm) was going on, they took more than 30 minutes. Today ( March 18, 2019) they only served 65-70 forms, which indicated their sluggishness and slow speed. ( from 10 am to 5 pm). We, foreigners, deserve more techno literate,knowledgeable and professional railway officers in this office.
