About Ekal Global Foundation
Ekal is a movement started in the late Eighties in the remotest parts of Tribal India with a mission to provide education to tribal children by taking education to their doorsteps. During the journey of more than three decades, it has evolved as Ekal Movement for Holistic Development of Tribal & Rural Communities specially in the remote areas of Rural & Tribal India. Movement is led by Ekal Vidyalaya based on the concept of “One Teacher School” to ensure children learn in their local environment. The idea is to make children learn through experiential learning, a pedagogy evolved over a period of time by working at grassroot level with Tribal & Rural communities. In Ekal Vidyalaya the objective is not only to make children literate but also ensuring holistic development of children.
With community reach in villages, thanks mainly to Ekal Vidyalaya, Ekal has made different interventions in areas of empowerment, development & health based on the need of community. That is how the Ekal Abhiyan model evolved as a Model for Social Change. Ekal is one of its kind model with administrative cost is in single digit and one of largest Non-Governmental initiative.
