β β β β β A noise making school , unaware of noise poluution and use of speakers. School governers must be govt illitrates as they have invested lakhs to build auditorium but organise musical events in open air. Perform beyond school time limits . May someday some litrate server the school.

β β β β β The Portmore estate was built by Scottish Colonel Thomas David Colyear of British Army in the second half of 19th century. He was the son of 'Earl of Portmore' and lived here for a while. Hence, it was named Portmore. This estate was extended down upto Milsington where the prestigious St. Edward's school is situated. When Shimla became Summer Capital of India in 1864, the Portmore estate was rented to Government of India to house the office of 'Quarter Master General' of Military Department. This office was later shifted to newly constructed Army Headquarters in 1884. In the early 20th century, it was made a Nursing Home. This place is still visited by Europeans who were born here during British rule.
After independence in 1948, Portmore Nursing Home was converted into Portmore Government High School, Shimla-East under Punjab University. Ms. Sudha Sethi was the first Headmistress of this school. The school was upgraded to Government Higher Secondary School for girls in 1959. It is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education in 1969. Portmore school turned into Government Girls' Senior Secondary School in 1986. Now stands a multi-storey building with all modern facilities built in 2007.

β β β β β One of the finest girl's school in Shimla city and enriched with lots of talented girls who studied here . Approachable from all side of shimla city situated in centre of Shimla. I personally visited this during ceremonial programme held in school with respected dignitaries of HP Government.
