★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went there after reading in the Mumbai Mirror about Punjabi restaurants at GTB Nagar - the reviewer of that article had written that this is one of the authentic Dhabas in the area. Taking a right turn from the road below the Monorail track, we got into the street having Gurdas Puri Punjabi Dhaba. The kitchen is right at the entrance. With a tandoor used for making rotis. Rest of the food is cooked on order at the kitchen behind the tandoor. The dining area of few seats is at the back and has small tables and benches. Orders are taken by waiters (there is no menu card) and food takes time coming as it is all made to order. We ordered rotis and side dishes of maa Ka Dal, aloo mutter and Kadi pakodi. The food was simple and good. Not too oily or spicy. The bill for 3 of us was just INR 130 - a price at which you can eat at very few places in Mumbai. The dhaba is right across from a gurudwara. The ambience, choice and good make you think you are at Punjab. There is no restroom. Also parking can be a challenge on weekdays.
