Extraordinary achievements start with unconventional thoughts. He was a man who dared to question, “Why can’t Indians have a home of their own with housing finance in the earlier years of their lives? Why should they have to wait till the end of their working careers?” Though the question was simple, the answer was not so. The uphill task notwithstanding, at an age of 66, when most people think of retirement, Mr. Parekh was determined to set up his most ambitious enterprise.
His lifelong dream of helping Indians own their home, as he had seen abroad during his student days, led to the formation of the Housing Development Finance Corporation Limited (HDFC) in 1977 and as they say, the rest is history.
It was the first of its kind in the country. His setting up of HDFC, without any financial assistance from the Government of India was a milestone in the Indian financial history. It was under Mr. Parekh’s leadership and direction that HDFC grew manifold while being strongly rooted in the principles of integrity, transparency and professionalism.
Mr. Parekh was a man of few words, and believed that strong views need not be expressed in strong words. He had a keen eye for talent and nurtured it by providing direction and ample learning opportunities.
He never underestimated the power of teamwork. He believed that the success of an organization was possible only with a group of dedicated professionals who shared a common goal to serve, and were willing to take reasonable risks.
Soon HDFC became a role model not only for the country but for the entire Asian region. His dream of providing better housing and living conditions for people was accomplished with an organization that was modelled on its international peers but was Indian at heart.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I came to pay EMI since the branch from where I took the loan messed up my auto debit. The front desk person took 3 checks for payment of next 3 months. She got the ECS form signed and done. Very polite experience. I was in and out in 20 minutes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have taken home loan from here through agent but later came to know that this is the worst private bank in terms of service. The persons there are not bothering about your problem. When i wrote to higher management they also did not respond. That is the service and condition of this bank. I advice not to take loan ever from this private bank.

I wish to close my home Loan, first they stated fill forms on website, give missed calls, write to customer care and wait for 2 days.. If they like, they will reply. 3 days and no reply. Complained to next level and some xyz called to say I cannot prepay my loan... Because of pandemic and their IT system are not capable enough to handle the payments...shud u upgrade their IT system ??? no doubt RBI Banned their credit card bussiness.
Next, come to branch for loan closure.. Nearest open branch is in gurgaon... So i shud travel across 2 states to give them my business. My home branch is not open.. They r not bothered... Nice, Requested for part payment, again same... Fill the form.. They will reply in 2 days... After 2 days they again send a mail to fill the same form again and now their response time will be 4 to 7 days..and yes.. You cannot prepay more than 25 % of the principle amount. Rbi guidelines be dammed.. They are a authority in themselves..
Such a pathetic bunch of looser hdfc is that they want you to come to branch for everything in the era of net banking and home banking.
Offcourse, if u want new loan.. They will come to ur home..
Getting loan is easier but closing it is a much more pain than one goes thru sarkari banks...so better to bear that pain initially and get loan from banks like SBI only... They suck u at every oppurtunity.. Be it lowering the interest rate or any other service...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ one of the pathetic customer interaction , first the sales man whom you can ask about home loan of this branch is not available , they say he has gone to somewhere , every time he is missing in working hours . and there are snitch in bank ,lets say A is sales of this branch but i got phone call from main branch , the guy said leave A guy i will give you home loan , commission is goal of this guy which B. so B is also is not responsive . so overall i now avoid home loan from HDFC bank. branch manager and people that work there are good , but first interactor with customer is pathetic.
