About Himalaya Optical

Safety products including eyewear in India and world over need accreditations for their impact resistance and also to define their minimum levels of performance.

One such document that governs the reliability of protective eyewear used for industrial use in the United States of America is the US-ANSI Z87.1. Compliance with ANSI standard with a Z87.1 qualifies a protective eyewear to be used in a hazardous environment. The lens used in such protectors is prone from breakages depicting strength. An impact of high mass is subjected to the product that performs a lens retention test to deem the product fit for industrial purposes.

Another such governing body that defines impact performance is the Canadian CAN/Z94.3, a benchmark drawn by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The products that revolve around this standard pay special heed to design of the safety eyewear it lends its accreditation to. In an event of grinding in workplaces where bits can be found flying hazardously, such eyewear shields the face and give optimum protection.

Providing protection from on-spot occupational hazards like splashing materials, flying fragments, aerosols, dust and other harmful gases are safety eyewear products that boast of the CE-EN166F. This is a European standard that has been based on the following criteria- the design and shape of the goggles to provide protection, the strength of the product to withstand challenges, radiation and ultra violet ray protection and its capability to withstand impact of different velocities.

For the provision of safety eyewear that provides maximum protection against occupational hazards in an industrial workplace is this standard referred to as the AS/NZS 1337:2010. The sole purpose of this safety eyewear is to bring to the wearer comfortable and efficient vision while keeping in mind the need for respite against the glare of the sun and other challenges posed in the natural environment.

Worst Ever Ever Ever Kind of Experience, got a eye glasses worth 5100 with prescription from EYE 7, salesmen didn't explain anything just simply took the order like machine, first, they didn't delivery the item on the date as it was promised, second, salesmen were not ready to accept any feedback, third, the lens in the eye glasses didn't help at all, I said to salesmen "my vision is still blur with the glasses on" and then salesmen gave me tricky explanation which is the last thing anyone want to hear after all this. And they admitted that their items are 100% manufacture defect free (is there a such thing, I came to know for first time). So GUYS I hope you all read this before even thinking of buying anything from this store

Worst experience ever. Visited for change of lenses in glasses. The staff was more than eager to sell a new frame despite my frame being almost new. Having called me to take the delivery, they told me that my frame was broken by their staff while making and asked me to buy a new frame for 3600 rupees. Horrible experience.

I have been using Himalaya Optical for over ten years. I have used their Kolkata and Mumbai branches. Never had such awful experience. Not only people are rude they are absolutely incompetent. And not even ready to listen to problems that customer is facing. They took the money and didn't care to deliver the right product. Horrible experience. I don't think I will ever use any Himalaya Optical again.

We went there first on December 23rd for eye check up. Bought a pair of frames and ordered fiber lenses with ARC. We paid about 3600 in total. Once we received the glasses we realized that they gave wrong power. The glasses were for my sister. She then went to see an eye specialist as she was getting severe headache and nausea. Once she received numbers for her eyes from the eye specialist she ordered another pair of glasses which was perfect fit. We visited this Himalaya outlet again on January 3rd. They agreed to fix the glasses according to new prescription. But guess what! Same problem persisted. We had to go there again. They were extremely rude and had the audacity to suggest that the doctor (Dr. M. Dasghosh. MBBS, DOMS, M.S.Eye, and former associate professor of eye department of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata) gave a wrong prescription. We had to go to a different establishment to figure out what was wrong. The glasses were off centered. Do you think you should buy anything from a shop where optometrist doesn't know how centering works and charges you for their incompetency? They shook off all responsibility and clearly said that they couldn't do anything. Think before you go.

Got new prescription glasses from them, costed me 17000 Rs. anti glare coating was gone in 2 months. They kept my glasses for 7 days on pretext of getting new anti glare coating done and returned without any change. The sales person blamed me for not being able to accept a ‘superior’ product. What kind of salesmanship is this?
