β β β β β It was my hons practical exam center.... the practical lab is well developed with good facilities . The college campus is surrounded by green...there is a central library in this college...
Hooghly Mohsin college began on 1st august 1836. At first it was under university of calcutta .
But now it is under the University of Burdwan , after the establishment of the University of Burdwan 1960.
The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC)

Promoting the higher education for more than one hundred eighty three years. Opened on 1 St August, 1836. Initially it was named as New Hooghly College and on the centenary celebration it became Hooghly Mohsin College. The great man Hari Mohammed Mohsin .... whose learning, piety, and philanthropy have kept him alive in people's memory

β β β β β Hooghly Mohsin College (HMC) began on 1 August 1836 as the New Hooghly College. It was established by Muhammad Mohsin, who also started other colleges. On its 100th anniversary it was renamed Hooghly Mohsin College. It became affiliated to University of Calcutta since the latterβs initiation in 1857. After the establishment of the University of Burdwan in 1960, the college became its constituent college.

β β β β β Hooghly Mohsin college is one of the oldest college in Hooghly district.This is a Government college and also merit based .All departments are good and teachers are always ready to co operate with the students, office stuffs are also very helpful.

β β β β β It is one of the oldest college in Hooghly district and situated at Chinsurah. Muhammad Mohsin was a person who seeks to promote the welfare of others. He established it on 01/08/1836 as the New Hooghly College. Later it was renamed as Hooghly Mohsin College. Earlier it was affiliated by the University of Calcutta. Later it became constituent unit of the University of Burdwan. It has been awarded B++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council and it is recognised by the University of Grants Commission. Few notable alumni are mentioned below.
