India's first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant made great contribution in 1971 war. Here the memorial made from parts of original ship. Designed and created by Arzan Khambatta.

The Memorial is dedicated to Indian Navy's first Aircraft carrier, which served the nation for 36 glorious years and was decommissioned in 1997. The Vikrant Memorial was unveiled by Vice Admiral SPS Cheema, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command & Shri Ajoy Mehta, Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai on 25 January 2016. The memorial is located opposite to Lion Gate, Naval Dockyard. It is a sculpture created with pieces of metal recovered from the ship-breaking yard and belonged to the decommissioned ship. The memorial is a living testimony of deep gratitude to a majestic ship from all those who served on her as she created the legacy as pioneer of Indian Navy's Aviation Arm.

At the traffic island of Shahid Bhagat Singh Road and K Dubash Marg, bang opposite Lion Gate, Naval Dockyard is one of the latest landmarks in the history of modern Mumbai. A memorial dedicated to India's First Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant, which played a vital role in the security and defense of the nation from 1961-1997. Sadly all efforts to save the decommissioned ship to be preserved as a Museum went in vain and she was 'scrapped' in 2014 :-( During my NCC days I had the privilege of visiting INS Vikrant on several occasions. For me this memorial is unique not only for it's historic value but also as a good landmark created for the city. This great piece of sculpture was crafted out of parts of the ship INS Vikrant by sculptor Arzan Khambatta and unveiled on 25 January 2016. As Tourist, this is a must see for you...also a great photo opportunity (including selfies ;) ). Just make sure you do not take pictures of the Lion Gate. That will be an offense.

Very wrong. Wrong Google position. We walked all the way following Google map. Very bad. Navy should have checked it at least once following the Google map. We reached HEDGEHOG &FOX limited with this position. Please correct it.
