★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordinary people of South Kolkata are in dire straits after the Majerhat Bridge collapsed. After a lot of pressure, the Majerhat Bridge or the Joy Hind Bridge, as it is now called, has been rebuilt after about two and a half years. But the people of Kolkata are so low-minded that the bridge was gutkha-picking soon after its inauguration. However, I would say that from the outside, this bridge is beautiful and relieves the pain of ordinary people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurates the Majerhat Bridge recently named as Jai Hind Setu. This bridge collapsed two years ago which led to the death of three people. The bridge was constructed with race against time.
The Majerhat bridge, which will be opened to traffic on December 3, will be named Jai Hind Bridge as a tribute to Subhas Chandra Bose on his 125th birthanniversary, chief minister Mamata Banerjee said on 3rd December.
