The Janakinath Temple was established by Janaki Devi, the queen of Mahisadal Pargana(Kingdom) The King of the Kingdom was Raja Anandalal. After a long reign of 32 years, Anandalal died childless in 1770. Then his wife, Rani Janaki Devi, took charge of the state. Janaki Devi has ruled the state for 34 years. In 1804, this devout woman died. Janaki Devi established several temples over a period of 34 years. One of them is Janakinath Temple. She founded the temple in 1803, just a year before his death. Lord Ramchandra, Sita Devi, Lakshanji and Hanumanji - 4 idols are worshiped in the temple. Giving details of height and weight, it will be useful for the reader to understand the size of the idol 4. The idols are made of octahedron. Hanumanji - 23 inches, 50s. Lakshanji - 25 inches, 60s. Mata Sita - 25 inches, 50 ser. And Lord Ramchandra - 26 inches, 65 inches. There is a common myth about the construction of 4 statues here. An artisan of the title of Rana was entrusted with the task of making the statue. He was brought with his family from Odisha. Although other idols were made, even after three-three erection, the idol of Goddess Sita was becoming somewhat perfect. Then the agitated carpenter sat down in the vow of self-sacrifice in the process of purification. He received a dream order that night. Accordingly, he dedicated his daughter to the gods and began to build idols. The statue is also perfectly made. But it is known that his only daughter died on the same day. Apart from the idols, 4 Shalgram rocks are also worshiped in the temple. A Nishikanta Pathak presided over the temple for generations. The last 48 years. He is involved. His ancestors came from the city of Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Provision of worship 3 times a day with food at noon. However, apart from temple worship, the worship of devotees also continues in the temple. Two festivals are held in a year with great pomp. 1. Ramnabami- Thousands of jugs brought by the devotees bathe the idol in water on that day. After an all-night puja, prasad distribution and Ramayana lessons are held. 2. The second festival is Pancham Dol(Holi). On that occasion, the whole Nandigram market area became engrossed in the game of chanchor and color.
