This place actually tells you the great mathematicians these people were.. holds the world's biggest sun dial. U should ensure you have a good guide who can explain how the structures work.

While this is positioned as a place of ancient Indian science and technology, the place lacks the adoption of modern tech and story telling to captivate the audience by explaining the relevance of each equipment here. Apparently a guide would have made the visit worthwhile as per other reviews.

Science as a subject in school was never really my thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this site. It was like an ancient science experiment come to life. Built between 1727-34 AD it has a noteworthy collection of traditional astronomical instruments. I recommend a guide as most of the items would be impossible to determine what they are/were or used for. If science isn't your thing the angles and geometry if the instruments also make them very photogenic, the while place was a great unexpected surprise for me. I wish we had had more time there.

It was really good historical place known for old era engineering. In this place their are 19 astronomical instruments which were used by those days king to find out astronomical positions with eyes directly. It is a good place for students as well to learn old era engineering techniques. They will show you small videos as well to understand the instruments. Ticket price for indian tourist is 50 rs per person. I have Enjoy the place with family !!!

This place is design at its best. Functional, aesthetic, simple, beautiful and literally timeless. These ancient instruments to calculate time, sun paths, moon phases including various Zodiacs (raashis)is quite a marvel. Do visit early to avoid crowds and the blaring heat (if visiting in summers). To understand this monument better, a guide is highly recommended. Not sure about their prices as i didn't hire one. Do not miss the small shrine at the east edge of the complex. It's quite a serene spot to relax.

Beautiful design of sun dial / sun clock. Combination of Art, math calculation and prediction of sun movement. Nice, fun and full of knowledge. While sight seeing, we can see the historical ways to tells time with math and logic calculation. Good place to bring your family and kids along as we can do both having holiday while learning about historical time. Minus is that no public parking nearby, you have to find parking bit far from Jantar Mantar. Of more wisely to use tuktuk or taxi to come here. If you visit at noon, consider to use your hat and sunglasses, as it is a bit hot.

One of the best old and rich science & engineering concepts I have ever visited. The items were manufactured with extreme precision. It clearly says the relationship between the position of sun and the time, really a beautiful place to visit with proper understanding. Do see some of the YouTube videos available on these concepts. You will also get a chance to see the video on the basic concepts from their office. A must visit place.
