The temple attracts devotees from all over the country. However there is large room for improvement of management, like cleaner and more systematic way of offering worship and darshan.

The visit to temple was good. The temple is maintained but needs more attention by authorities. The pujari there are very expensive and they are always eager to loot money from devotees. Pls bargain there for everything. Pay some extra money and skip the line for mata darshan. The entry to temple are many and there are shops for puja ka saman. Take peda and flower garland. Workship the goddess and u will get what u pray.

The abience is good but with no facilities and with no proper maintenance... The panda culture is bad for both devotees and overall expirence... This needs to be redeveloped like other Temple's...

A popular religious attraction of Kolkata, Kalighat Kali Temple is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas (places where the various parts of Sati's body are believed to have fallen, in the course of Shiva's Rudra Tandava) of India. Kalighat is said to be the site where the toes of the right foot of Sati fell. In earlier years, the image of the deity was incomplete as only the face was constructed. Later on over the years, the hands (made of gold and silver), the tongue and jewellery were added to the idol of goddess Kali. A densely populated neighborhood with a traditional vibe, Kalighat is known for Kalighat Kali, a revered Hindu temple complex from the early 1800s. It contains several shrines and altars where devotees ask for blessings. The surrounding area has tea stalls and unpretentious markets selling everyday goods, as well as time-tested cultural venues like the intimate Tapan Theatre and the single-screen Basusree Cinema.

A sacred place where you can have the real peace of mind, a direct connect with the Supreme Deity, a scared place where you can have all your wishes material as well as spiritual fulfilled by mere glimpse of Maa Kali. One of the 51st Shakti Peethas the Kali Temple in Kolkata at the bank of Hughly river is one of the most visited temples in Kolkata. Even though it is most famous and visited place in Kolkata still the Governnt never gives the kind of sincere attention it requires to be the best and most decorated and cleaned place. It should be the most clean, well-maintained and fantastically decorated place for the visitors but sadly it is left with its own share of pains and misery and at the mercy of hugely greedy pandas for its care taking. So sad to see the condition here around. It seems the Government of West Bengal, The Department of Tourism, both of State and Centre, have no care for it except that they know that it is a heritage place for Kolkata and a great pilgrimage centre for Hindus. Still it holds a great place in the heart of we Hindus and we love to have just a glimpse of Maa Kali and her blessings.
