Opened in 1881, this tram depot was earlier a stable meant to house the Australian Horses owned by The Calcutta Tramways Company before the electric trams were introduced in 1902.
Being the Smallest depot in Kolkata, Kalighat depot has 4 lines under its shade which helps to stable 10 Trams. It also has 2 loops.
The Kalighat Depot is one of the four tram Depots in South Kolkata and Served Routes: 30 and 31.
