β β β β β Beautifully breathtaking museum based out of Shahibaug Road Ahmedabad. This is one of the most well maintained property. Situated amongst lush green environment is this beautiful bunglow like museum which is segregated into 2 portions. First one is the vintage stuff and paintings of Kasturbhai and Nheru times along with some beautiful ancient and antique artifacts and paintings. Photography ain't allowed here owing to the idea of keeping these artifacts and treasures preserved. The second portion is of Alchemy a textile exhibition. It explains everything about indigo color from how it came to India, to Indigo tree to thread to how it is used to make a cloth. There are also some superb indigo works here open for display and guess what, photography ain't prohibited in this zone. Everything here is breathtakingly blue and beautiful to the extent that you fall in love with indigo color. The staff is very polite and courteous here. However pre telephone booking is mandatory before visiting this place.
P.S This place is so calm composed and close to nature that you will find peacocks roaming around in the gardens of this property
All and all a must visit place which will proove why Ahmedabad truly deserves the title of Heritage City.

β β β β β The museum is in the heart of the city Ahmedabad. The place is well maintained and have a sprawling garden. The white building against the green looks refreshing. The place holds many showcases of rare experience of events. The exhibitions are generally well curated and is open to only niche customers. But would look forward for more interactive people in the museum when the exhibitions goes on.

β β β β β Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum is basically am indigo museum. So far google doesn't provide proper information so we basically landed up here around 11am and were informed that the museum can only be viewed with prior tour bookings. But we saw some pieces around the place and in another building. Our guides for the day were some students who were great, they were trying so hard and it was commendable. The property is great. Some of artwork is wonderful as well.

β β β β β A lovely private museum housed in a beautiful colonial style bungalow. Some beautiful paintings and furniture on display.
The Gaganendranath Tagore collection is particularly lovely.
Only drawback is that there is no car parking available. But not that difficult to find parking on the streets in the morning.
Photography not allowed inside :)
Would recommend that you also visit the LD Museum of Indology. Many exquisite artefacts & paintings from the collection of the Lalbhai family.

β β β β β Reminded me of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum of Boston. It's a tastefully decorated home converted into museum. Tour started right on time and was excellently guided. If possible arrive 20 min early, and visit the indigo art gallery in same compound. It has beautiful abstract artforms along with Arvind Mills Denim collection as backdrop... No photography allowed in main museum, all photos shared are from the indigo collection.
