Ahobilam is a town and a holy site in the Kurnool district. Surrounded by picturesque hills of the Eastern Ghats, it’s the Center of worship of Narasimha - the lion headed avatar of Vishnu, to whine the 9 temples are dedicated. The main village and a temple complex are at Lower Ahobilam. Upper Ahobilam, about 8 kilometres to the east, has more temples in a steep gorge. It’s really exciting to visit all these 9 temples in about 6-8 km range. Few of the upper Ahobilam temples are difficult to reach. It’s really exciting to walk through the caves surrounded by mountains and a difficult rough pathway. But it’s worth visiting this wonderful temple town. I strongly recommend to visit at least once in your life time. Ahobilam is traditionally regarded as the place where Vishnu in the form of Narasimha killed the Rakshasa Hiranyakashipu in order to save his devotee Prahlada. The legend says that Narasimha emerged from a rock pillar to slay the Rakshasha. The moment is represented in a number of murti in the various temples. Also, Garuda prayed for a vision of Narasimha in the form of Avathara, to fulfil his wish, and settled in nine forms across the hills in Ahobilam.

One of the very reputed temples in Chembur. It is a very calm and serene place to worship. The temple is kept absolutely clean. They also have halls which are rented out for different functions. The halls are a tad expensive though and with a lot of temple rules to be adhered to. Still one of a very good temples in Chembur.
