★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Post a traumatic phase in my life which forced me to notice my own perceived limitations as an individual, I decided to seek support and counselling from Dr. (Ms.) Diya Kapoor @ MWell in Feb / March of this year. After 10 months and numerous sessions of one-to-one interaction, I can confidently and proudly say that it was one of the best decisions of my life.
The initial few sessions were geared towards trying to identify the problem through diagnostic tests and discussions, and the sessions post that were her guiding me through techniques (CBT / Mindfulness / Relaxation etc) to enable me to tackle my problems. The sessions got more freewheeling as and when there were signs of progress and improvement.
When I look back now, I see massive difference in how I was back then to how I am currently. For me, the best part has been that she has been extremely kind throughout and yet gently firm at the same time, the sort of balanced professionalism you expect from a psychologist.
She would be quick to point out when I wasn’t putting in enough efforts into my therapy, and at other times, genuinely gave praise and was happy when there were tangible improvements. She remained non-judgemental and always gave a free reign whenever I wanted to share anything. It’s the sort of thing that helped me open up about my issues and myself quite early. The timings were always as per my convenience, and there was adequate time given in each session.
I shall conclude by saying a HUGE THANK YOU to you Doc, and I wish that more people like me who face these issues but are afraid to seek professional help because of the stigma or unawareness get benefit from your support and guidance.
P.S. – The Greater Kailash clinic is situated inside a house in a narrow lane, right behind Summer Fields School (it is the first house in the lane). There is a board outside the house which would help you to identify the location.
The entry to the clinic is through a door on the landing overlooking the narrow lane. The door can be accessed by climbing 6 odd steps immediately to the right of the entry gate of the house.
