★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Maakalidurga
We all think it's a good trek spot, obviously it is one of the Trek Sport in "Bangalore". We staring our Trek at 6am And reached the top at 8am, at the peak u can find a small temple and some good sight views.
The Mountain trek is 60° slope so while climbing be careful and I suggest u to wear Shoes while Trekking
Good place to Chill out ,but u cannot find clouds above the Hills like Madhu Hills.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place to go for a medium difficulty trek. You need to carry food and water as nothing is available on top or nearby areas. There is a parking near the railway track and one has to cross it to reach the starting point. Villagers may ask you to pay 20 rupees for parking. Recently this trail is made chargeable by govt. Accordingly two guards were there to check if you've made online payment. Charge is RS. 450 per person. Since we reached so early that no one was there. While coming back we were asked to pay but we didn't as nothing was mentioned there. Those who came late were asked to pay online and show the receipt. Then only they were allowed to trek. But it's not at all worth to pay and trek.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The trekkers are allowed to trek Maakalidurga hills only after 6:00 AM and with the permission from the forest department. Not a difficult trek and you can reach the top in 90 minutes. There are arrow marks on the stones guiding you to the top all the way and hence you don't need a guide to take you to the top. It's green all the way and you can find no animals or birds. At couple of places the path is little steep and could need some help to climb. Some places are slippery probably due to overnight rain or dew. On top there is a fort and a small Shiva Linga temple. It is quite windy on top and pleasant to gaze around natures beauty. Take some pictures to store it in your memory, they are worth it.
Suggest you to carry your own water bottle to quench your thirst if your thirsty as you won't find water on the way. You can take snacks just in case to add some energy but make sure you don't litter around. Keep the hill clean.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful mountains , with amazing view .. the map takes u to the location of trek .. but a right from the main road before the hill and take u to the gundanmagere lake behind if u need to directly visit the lake behind and not trek .. can be very hot during the noon .. they are coming up with a resort with sports theme ..
Pro : view , parking available , toilets available ,
Cons : no good restaurants nearby ..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ really trek place to go specially post monsoon because there would be greenery and also the view from the top would look greenery.
The terrain is full of rocks.
Climbing up we did not realise the challenge of getting down.
Climbing down was a little challenging because the trail was steep and full of rocks.
It did stress our calf muscles and also the toes but all the effort was worth it.
It is advised to start the trek ASAP ( 6.30AM) because it would get hotter at the later part of the day.
There is a forest department permission which has to be taken and the forest team would be checking it at the entrance.
You can reach the place by car or there are trains from Bengaluru to makalidurga. You need to walk a little from the train station to the base of the trek place.
