★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very good railway station having good display board, public announcement system and toilet facility. I saw ticket checking staffs as well. The platform is total smoke free zone. Over bridge is good but during night time there is lack of light.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Small station just about 2 km from Chandannagar. Two platforms present and three railway tracks present. Service is good. But it's too lonely after 10 pm in night. Well connected by road. Auto service is present from there. It's a festive hub during jagadhatri puja. 4 stars is great.

History : East Indian Railway Company started construction of a line out of Howrah for the proposed link with Delhi via Rajmahal and Mirzapur in 1851.
The first passenger train in eastern India ran from Howrah to Hooghly on 15 August 1854. The track was extended to Raniganj by 1855.
